What is the minimum level required to start a course?

We propose courses for all levels: from absolute beginner (A0) to perfectioning (C2).

How do I know my level?

On the enrolment paper you write down the level that you believe you have.
We also give you an evaluation test (at the bottom of the enrolment paper) which will give us a first idea of the extent of your knowledge.
Your teacher will evaluate your exact level during the first class and he or she will adapt the classes to your level.

If you enrol for a group class, you'll be in a group of people who have more or less the same level as you. This allows you to learn together, student to student, which is a very enriching experience.

How can I book my course?

To enrol, you need to send us your enrolment form (filled in and signed) by post or by email. Your enrolment will be finalised after we have received your payment (complete or partial). After we've received the form and your payment we'll send you an enrolment confirmation.

Can I enrol for an individual course with my husband?

Of course. Our prices become lower per person when you 'share' your teacher with someone else. You can also enrol with 2, 3 or 4 other people.

I would like to enrol for a Theme Course in May with 4 of my friends, is that possible?

Yes, you can enrol with your friends for the Theme Courses already organised by the César Institute, but we can also organise a Theme Course for you and your friends at any moment of the year. (with a minimum enrolment of 5 people)

Is there a date limit for enrolling?

No, but we prefer to receive your enrolment at least 2 weeks before the beginning of your course.
Last-minute enrolments are accepted, but in this case (especially in summer) we won't be able to guarantee you a place or your choice of lodgement.

How can I pay?

Do I need to have insurance?

Personal insurance is reccomended, but for most people, not a requirement to come to France. It is recommanded in case of medical expenditures or travel annulation fees. The courses themselves require no special insurance policies.

Is it possible to extend my stay at the Institute?

Yes, of course, we ask you in this case to inform us of your decision so we can reserve your place.

Do I have to buy any books for my course?

No, class material is included in the price of your course. It can, however, occur that we advise you to buy a book that could serve you personally in the study of the language you are learning. We do advise you to bring your own dictionary.

Are there classes on public holidays?

The Institut is closed on public holidays. The missed hours (or days) will be given on another following day.

Can I lend books from your library?

For the Theme Courses, we'll hand out the programme on the first day of your course.

No, you can not just book a place to sleep. You have to attend a course at the institute. It is of course possible for your partner or husband etc. to stay where you are staying without attending a class.

Arrival and transfer to my lodgings:
